The U.S. Solar Industry Job Growth

In these tough economic times, the solar power industry is and has been creating jobs for many hard working Americans. In contrast to other U.S. industries, the solar power industry has doubled in the past 3 years and boasts employees in all 50 states. In its third annual National Solar Jobs Census report, The Solar Foundation found that the solar industry employs 119,016 Americans and added 13,872 new workers, an increase in 13.2% employment growth. The solar industry has grown at a significantly higher rate than other industries and has added jobs at approximately 5.74 times the rate of the rest of the economy.

Solar Savings

A major reason that people do not make the switch to solar power is because of the perceived high costs. However, as solar power becomes more innovative, systems are becoming more and more affordable. As the solar industry continues to grow and more panels are produced, the cost of solar panel systems will further decrease. A report by the Solar Energy Industries Association and GTM Research revealed that solar costs have fallen by 30% in the past two years alone.

Why Solar?

With rising utility costs and the emergence of an increasingly environmental conscious society, more people have been making the switch to solar power, the fastest growing energy source in the world.
